recipes

This is a collection of the recipes I have found online over the last couple of years. Only a handful have been made more than once, but I enjoy trying new recipes, so these lists will keep growing and changing.

Beef/bison
I use ground bison instead of ground beef recipes because it's healthier, and I need food that are rich in iron

Breakfast
Breakfast is becoming one of my most enjoyable meals since DH and I make a point to have breakfast every morning, even before work.

Carbs
Pasta is my favorite carb. It's fast, filling and easy to make it taste good.

Chicken
Whenever I cook chicken, it is usually twice -- once in the steamer and a second time in whatever the recipe calls for (usually the oven).

Condiments
I often make my own dips and sauces instead of buying them because we can't have milk or sour cream, and many pre-made dips are made with these ingredients. I also replace mayonnaise with the vegan version or yogurt for a healthier alternative.

Dessert
Desserts used to be lumped in with breakfast, but I decided to separate them. My desserts usually consist of chocolate something or other, but sometimes I have other sweets.

Pork
I usually only cook pork in the slow cooker so I can buy the less expensive cuts and still end up with tender meat.

Seafood
Seafood is my favorite, particularly shellfish like crab and shrimp.

Slow cooker
I enjoy slow cooker meals because they are usually pretty much done when I get home from work, but I'm rarely happy with slow cooker recipes. I prefer to slow cook for sandwich or taco meat rather than making the full meal in the slow cooker.

Soups
Soups are my meal of choice in the winter when it's cold out, but I don't make them often. For the recipes that call for milk, cream or half-and-half, I just use plain soymilk.

Vegetarian
Vegetarian main courses. Not to be confused with the vegetarianism tag, which is about my thoughts and progress in cutting down my meat intake.
